Nursery Rhyme Day

We enjoyed a visit from Mother Goose and her pet, Lucy Goosie on Nursery Rhyme Day.  She read us both traditional and humorous rhymes that went along with our costumes.  Thank you, parents, for creating such wonderful costumes!

Fire Safety

Littleton Fire Department's educator, Katie Moore, taught us about the importance of smoke detectors and fire plans.  The children know that smoke detector batteries should be changed twice a year (same as daylight savings dates) and that they should always meet their parents outside the house if there is a fire.

Fire Fighters took us on a tour of their engine and demonstrated their bunker gear for us so that we wouldn't be afraid of them should we ever meet them in a fire emergency.

Mrs. McGuire visited to read us her book, "Fire! Fire!" said Mrs. McGuire.  It is about lots of people running to a fire in building and being very unsafe.  It has a funny ending that surprised all of us!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

In the fall, we all enjoyed at trip to Anderson Farms where we went on a hayride and searched for the perfect pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.

Thanksgiving Feast

After studying about Native Americans, Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving, we baked corn muffins and pumpkin pie.  We even made our own butter! Then we celebrated together just like they did at the first Thanksgiving!

Gingerbread Houses

During our Cookie Unit, we read many wonderful stories.  We enjoyed Laura Numeroff's If You Give a Mouse a Cookie series.  We read many versions of The Gingerbread Boy.  We made gingerbread houses with our buddies and wrote "How to Make a Gingerbread House" stories.
