What is Franklin Art Start?
Art Start is a visual art appreciation program. Art Start is funded by PTO and facilitated by VOLUNTEERS. During an Art Start lesson an artist and a piece or more of artwork are presented and discussed. A project follows the lesson, incorporating artistic concepts and media. The lessons require at least an hour of time and are presented once a month from October through April.
Franklin has over one hundred works of art. The artists have been divided between grade levels K through 5, including the PACE classroom. A student at Franklin will have experienced over thirty artists during their time at Franklin.
Art Start also provides other activities including Family Art Night, Field trips to the Museum of Outdoor Arts and shows through the district. In addition, Art Start helps students create amazing classroom projects to be auctioned off at the annual fundraiser spring auction.
Art Start creatively provides the students with a foundation in art appreciation. We believe the ART is the Part that makes us WHOLE!!!
